Integrative Medicine: Mind + Body for Healthy Behavior Change

Byer's Auditorium, Genentech Hall,

Integrative and alternative medicine leaders will discuss abundant opportunities available from unconventional healing systems. These methods facilitate access to mental and physical health in an empowering, approachable way. Such practices include Ayurveda (the world’s oldest system of holistic health and healing from ancient India), yoga, dance, creative art therapy, somatic therapy, and mind-body practices. The panel will also cover fundamental neuroscience research related to integrative medicine, neural mechanisms responsible for clinical improvements, and safety concerns. Additionally, a personalized approach to therapy by matching states of autonomic regulation and interception to specific behavioral practices will be discussed.
