HTF Manila Meetup at McCann Worldgroup
After a brief introduction on HTF and how HTF Manila started, a representative from McCann (sponsor of the event) welcomed us and introduced McCann as well as McCann Health, the world’s most connected community of health and wellness experts united across six continents by one vision: to help client brands and businesses play a meaningful role in people’s lives. This commitment focuses their 1,600 employees around the world on generating life-changing ideas that improve the health of humanity.
We then had an ice breaker where everybody introduced themselves. The event brought together a diverse group of attendees with different backgrounds and experiences:
- An oncologist with interest in Artificial Intelligence
- Telehealth startup partners who recently won in a pitching competition and expect funding
- Health startup founders
- Health services vendor
- Dialysis patient
- Researcher at Nanyang Tech University
- McCann employees
Dr. Jonathan Galingan, previously Project manager for the Digitization / Computerization project in the Philippine General Hospital (Philippines’ largest government hospital), talked about his team’s experience and challenges in implementing a hospital ERP. He showcased PGH’s Odoo / OpenERP – based platform.
Jet Lee, Director, MIMS Pte Ltd, talked about patient safety and ran through some very interesting stats such as: “8 out of 10 patient (cases) are (actually) experiencing drug errors”. He talked in detail about MIMS offerings and its value proposition. MIMS is Asia-Pacific’s leading provider of trusted, quality medicine information and knowledge services, serving healthcare professionals across Australia, New Zealand and 10 countries in Asia for nearly 50 years.
Finally, Doc Mike talked about the health IT innovation gap in the Philippines.
We ended with a group picture and a proverbial round of networking. This was another great turnout and HTF Manila looks forward to hosting more events in the future!
