Pronoy is the Organizer and Founder of Health Technology Forum (HTF), a socially responsible organization promoting technology access and adoption to bring better healthcare to the masses.  He is an advisor, board member, and has founded companies in the health 2.0 space.

Pronoy has 20 years experience in technology, most recently in the healthcare, mobile, and service provider marketplaces. Pronoy held senior management positions in large conglomerates as well as startup companies. Pronoy earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and Master’s of Business Administration from the University of San Francisco.

Anand Navalgund, PhD is an engineer and a biomedical scientist with a passion for disease conditions and patient care. He specializes in sensor development and developing algorithms to find patterns and detect change/deviations from the norm in large datasets. He is a Senior Scientist with G-Tech Inc., a gastrointestinal diagnostics company located in Palo Alto, CA with a unique non-invasive device to monitor motility of the gastrointestinal system. He also serves as an alternate Member of the Advisory Panel for the Assessment of Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment Options with the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), an Institute based in Washington DC, federally mandated out of the Affordable Care Act.

Anand got his Phd in Biomedical Engineering from The Ohio State University and his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Kartnakata at Surathkal. He lives in San Jose , CA.

Shahid Rashid is a technologist with a passion for improving healthcare.  He is currently a Product Management Director at Oracle, where his coverage includes healthcare solutions – and he’s quite excited about some announcements you’ll see in early 2013.  Some of Shahid’s healthtech interests include healthcare interoperability, infrastructure solutions, connected living, aging, and policy.

Shahid is also an advisor to a few startups, including in the healthtech space. Prior to Oracle, Shahid has worked as a management consultant, a program manager at Cisco, and as an engineer of various capacities in two startups (the latter of which was acquired by Cisco). He has an MBA from MIT Sloan, an MS from UC-Berkeley, and a BS from UIUC. In his free time, Shahid enjoys good friends, good food, rock climing & skiing.

He is also an experienced traveler – from scuba diving in Egypt to spending two summers teaching entrepreneurship to Israeli & Palestinian youth in Jerusalem (http://meet.mit.edu).

Dr. Geetha Rao has over 25 years of experience in high-risk technologies with a focus on emerging business challenges and operational excellence that meets best-in-class, international standards. She is an internationally recognized expert in medical device risk management and has served on several international policy making bodies and as an invited expert to regulatory agencies. Geetha also serves as VP Corporate Development at Triple Ring Technologies, where she produces MedTech Frontiers, an educational forum exploring the intersection of leading-edge science and technology with medicine.

She has served on the faculty of FutureMed at Singularity University, Stanford University’s Biodesign Innovation Program, and on University of Chicago’s Innovation Network for the Physical Sciences Division. She was a contributor on the 2013 World Economic Forum research project onSustainable Health Systems, a TEDMED scholar, and has addressed numerous industry forums and the press. Geetha holds a doctorate from MIT and a masters from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.

Dr. Gurley is a practicing internist physician, writer and health technology consultant. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Medical School, then did a UCSF internal medicine residency and a Robert Wood Johnson UCSF-Stanford fellowship in epidemiology and health services research. She has managed several health technology projects ranging from large city-wide secure data systems across hundreds of client sites to mobile app development. Dr. Gurley has served as advisor and on the boards of non-profit and for-profit entities. She is board-certified in internal medicine, with extensive experience working within, and advocating for, collaborative models of care delivery. Dr. Gurley has also taken part in medical relief efforts in Haiti and also worked for a time at the Schweitzer Hospital in Lambarene, Gabon. She is a proponent of social media and blogging for healthcare. She is a recipient of the USC Annenberg Center’s California Endowment Health Journalism fellowship for which she wrote an award-winning series of articles. She writes a popular medical blog and also blogs for the SF Chronicle web site, SF Gate, and occasionally for the USC Annenberg Foundation’s Reporting on Health site. She has been the judge for the codeathon events at the Health 2.0 conferences and is a speaker and panelist at healthcare and health technology events.

Dr. Aratow is the Chief Medical Information Officer at San Mateo Medical Center (SMCC). He is a practicing physician at SMCC in emergency medicine and a board member at web3D consortium which promotes open source technology for display of volumetric images. He is a co-inventor of a patent of an aviation 3D situational display and a patent of a novel system and method for emergency response. He co-founded a startup company in 2003 that measured real time water quality in the water distribution system.

Dr. Aratow is a frequent public speaker and participated on numerous panels for various organizations including the National Association of Public Hospitals and California ePrescribing Consortium. Michael Aratow graduated Cum Laude from the UC Irvine in Biological Sciences. Michael attended the UC Los Angeles School of Medicine for his MD degree and received his residency in surgery at the UC San Francisco.

Dr. Mike Hogarth is a practicing physician and a professor at UC Davis Medical School. He currently holds the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) for the UC-wide Athena Breast Health Network project and Director of Pathology Informatics at UC Davis. He is a collaborator at Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society (CITRIS) at UC Berkeley and is currently involved with many state sponsored projects. In the past he worked at Oracle as a Healthcare System Analyst. Dr. Jill Jacobson is an intellectual property attorney specializing in patent strategy and procurement for biotechnology, life sciences, and clean technology companies. She has more than 14 years of experience assisting clients with obtaining patent protection for their innovations and developing an IP strategy that aligns with clients’ business interests. She also advises clients on freedom to operate and design around options in view of competitors’ patent portfolios, due diligence in patent acquisitions, and patent licensing issues, and provides assistance with trademark registrations.

Prior to her legal career, Dr. Jacobson obtained her Ph.D. in biochemistry from UCLA and worked as a researcher at the National Institutes of Health and in the biotechnology industry. She graduated cum laude from Santa Clara University School of Law, and is a licensed member of both the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office patent bar and the California Bar. She worked as an attorney at the law firm of Morrison and Foerster and as in house patent counsel for Genencor, an industrial biotechnology company.  She is currently a partner in the law firm FisherBroyles, LLP.

Dr. Enoch Choi, MD is a daily blogger and a full time Family Medicine physician practicing urgent care as a partner at Palo Alto Medical Foundation where he sees patients in clinic, as well as sees patients virtually online via a personal health record (PHR) enabling prescriptions, referrals, etc. He is an advisor to MedHelp.org. He has an active EMR consulting/expert witness practice for clients such as Sutter Health, Epic Systems and Misys. His past EMR/PHR product management roles at Medicalogic enabled the company to go public and acquire Medscape. Enoch chairs the board of Yew Chung International School and serves on the boards of Jordan International Aid, Palo Alto Community Fund, Palo Alto Menlo Park Parents Club, Abundant Life Christian Fellowship Medical Ministry, Menlo Park Presbyterian Church Medical Missions, and the Health 2.0 conference. Shervin Majd is a senior mHealth partner at Vodafone xone (Vodafone’s incubation center in the Bay Area), where he is responsible for product management, incubation for start-up solutions and investment in mobile health and wellness. In addition, he is an advisor to several health & wellness start-ups.

Prior to joining Vodafone, Shervin held several appointments in the healthcare field and worked in design, research and development, testing, and validation of medical device solutions across respiratory, cardiovascular and orthopedic disciplines.  His experience spans technical consultation for multinational healthcare companies such as Smith & Nephew, Johnson & Johnson to advising healthcare start-ups.

Beyond his direct involvement with the medical device industry, Shervin analyzed and reviewed life science and healthcare patent applications submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office for a number of years, where he acquired extensive insight into the evolution of healthcare technologies and current state-of-the-art mobile health and patient home monitoring technologies.

Shervin holds a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Tennessee and completed his post-doctorate training at the University of Maryland. He has authored several publications and presented in numerous panels and conferences.
